Faith = Risk

Nothing happens until you step out and take action.

Going after your dreams or pursuing your goals can feel like jumping out of an airplane or leaping off of a cliff, but nothing significant was ever achieved in life without making a risky move.

Do you dream of painting in a style you’ve never achieved before? Do you long to publish a book? Do you want to make movies that impact people and change the world? A dream that is bigger than you or that seems impossible to achieve was probably not your idea in the first place.

Often, the dreams that matter the most to you were put inside of you by the Creator and Designer of your soul. When you take the risk and step into those dreams, He’s with you in it and He’s got your back. When you know He is with you in it, you can know that the outcome is going to be good. Faith pleases Him (Hebrews 11:6) and He wants you to fully experience the joy of running after your dreams without fear.

Have you seen the crazy risks that children will take? They’ll stand on top of a table surrounded by people and loudly sing a song they didn’t even rehearse. They’ll jump off the top of the stairs and plunge into the couch below without fear of injury. They’ll create art that is far from perfect and proudly show it to you in full expectation of your praise and delight.

Children take bold risks with a huge smile on their face. They are not inhibited or hesitant in the way that adults are. Let the kid inside of you come out and take big risks again. It will put a big smile on the face of your Father, and after you press through the fear I am confident it will put a big smile on your face as well 🙂

What dreams are in front of you? What risks are you considering taking?

You Were Not Meant To Have Small Dreams

When God brings a dream it’s never small. He has a dream that lives inside the heart of each one of His Sons and Daughters. It is often close to our deepest desire, passion, and longing. That dream is significant and it matters deeply. It may seem small at first, but there is often more to it than He is first revealing. Many times we are only seeing the tip of the iceberg.

If you cultivate that dream it will stay strong and alive. If you neglect that dream it will become faint and difficult to discern. But it is still there.

As the saying goes, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Some of you may be well into the journey to fulfill that dream. Some may be just starting. Some may be terrified to take the first step. Some may have neglected it to the point that you forgot that it’s even there. But whatever the next step is for you, I encourage you to be bold, to know that the grace of Heaven is with you, and to take that next step.

Know that your dream matters. Not just to you. It matters to God. The life and freedom of others depend on you fulfilling that dream. Yes that dream is significant and it matters deeply. Say “yes” to your dream, because you will be saying “yes” to His dream.

I love the stories J.R.R. Tolkien gave us in the Lord Of The Rings. The character Galadriel said it very well when she told Frodo, “If you don’t find a way, no one will.” The future of Middle Earth hung in the balance and depended on Frodo completing his mission.

Your dream is your mission. It’s your assignment from Heaven. Be bold. Be courageous. Take the next step. It could be as simple as asking for help to take that step, or saying “yes” again, or just doing something with what you have right now even if that doesn’t seem like much to you. Small steps in obedience are a very big deal in the Kingdom of God. Do not be discouraged if the road looks impossible. God will make a way where there is no way. But the next move may be in your court.

For your dream and for a thriving future!

Don’t Let Anyone Tell You Otherwise!

Have you ever been wrongly judged by one of your peers? Judgements are nasty things! I know a boy in my daughter’s sixth grade middle school class who is gifted with a sense of humor that makes a lot of people smile. But in his experimentation with that gift, several of his peers have begun judging him and declaring, “You are weird!” In response, this bright young man simply has been accepting their judgments of him and even confessed in agreement many times, “I know.” But that is not a good thing. Their judgements are now defining what he believes about himself. And those judgements are pinning him in a box and holding him back from becoming all that he was designed and created to be. This young man is gifted to bring humor to the atmosphere around him and bless people with laughter. But he is also designed to be fierce and strong. However, he will not be able to see that or believe that about himself unless he is able to be free from the judgements of his peers.

If others have held you down with their judgements about you, then choose right now to no longer agree with those judgements. When you encounter new judgements against you, don’t accept them. Don’t receive them. Renounce them so they do not hold you back or place a limit on your life. Instead, grab hold of your true identity: You are amazing, wonderful, strong, and beautiful. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! You are fearfully and wonderfully made.

Discovering a Successful ART Business

To have a successful ART business, you can’t allow yourself to get discouraged just because things aren’t going the way you believe they should go. It’s trial and error. Learn from what didn’t happen, and then trial and error again. Treat it like a scientific experiment.

Thomas Edison experimented with a thousand versions of the lightbulb before he had finally succeeded with a long-lasting, sellable prototype. So don’t give up! Be confident that with persistence you can discover a working solution for your ART business.

What is your biggest creative struggle right now?

Don’t Strive To Be Different

You were already designed and created be be unique. It’s not something that you need to work to achieve. Just relax, simply be yourself, and your DNA will kick in and do it for you. The legendary CS Lewis expressed this truth very effectively when he said, “Even in literature and art, no man who bothers about originality will ever be original: whereas if you simply try to tell the truth (without caring twopence how often it has been told before) you will, nine times out of ten, become original without ever having noticed it.”

When Bullies Start Attacking Your Art…

I watched it happen to two of my artist friends this week. A sixth grade girl named Suzy is growing in her love of drawing, and it is stirring up jealousy in one of her classmates who began lashing out and verbally tearing apart her work.

The other artist is a high school girl named Glory, who has an intense passion for animation. Glory is dedicated to her craft and is growing leaps and bounds in her skill. She will create an animation in an afternoon, throw it up on YouTube, and get 40,000 views. She is an amazing girl with a massive amount of raw talent!

But recently, Glory’s work is rousing a ton of jealousy, and the angry critics are coming out in hordes. They write hurtful things on her Facebook page and exert a lot of energy to express their disdain and disapproval of her work. The ridiculous thing about this is that the critics can’t produce a fraction of the talented work that Glory creates. They are jealous! They can’t stand it! They feel small inside. And the only way they think they can make themselves feel like a bigger person is to attack and tear down Glory and her work.

Glory is entering into her greatness. She has found her passion and is living in it. Every day she invests time into her talents and is becoming even better at what she does, one small step at a time.

So if you are taking a risk and putting your passion out into the world, and if the bullies have been attacking your art, be encouraged… you are entering into your greatness! It does not matter what other people think about your art. God gave you those artistic talents and he loves the creative works that come from your heart. And more good news is that he is giving you the power to become as skilled and talented as you want to be. He wants you to succeed and to become all that you were created to be. I want that for you as well.

Do you have a creative work that you would like to share? Feel free to post it on my Facebook wall. I would love to see it!: facebook.com/NathanFisherCreative

What Will You Do With What Is Available To You Now?

90% of the world’s data has been generated in the past two years. We have a striking advantage over those that lived 100 years ago. Some of the greatest creative breakthroughs in history were birthed with only a fraction of what is available to us today. Consider Henry Ford, the Wright Brothers, Walt Disney, Johann Sebastian Bach, and many more. People are a creative force anointed and gifted by God with or without technology or resources available to them.

I challenge you to think about the great things that have been designed, created, or innovated by men and woman who started with nothing but the shirt on their back and a few dollars in their pocket. What creative things exist inside of you that are waiting for you to bring them out? There are things deep inside you that may be the answer for some of the greatest problems the human race is facing today. I encourage you to bring them out. The world is waiting and the actions you take truly matter. Just imagine what you can do with the technology and information about to you now!

A Prayer For The Dreamer

How is the creative journey going for you? Every artistic person has a dream inside of them that was woven into the fabric of their being when they were created. That includes you! Sometimes we drop the ball on the things that are most important to us and our lives become over-crowded with lots of stuff that we don’t even enjoy doing. But when that happens, all we need to do is make room for our dreams and pick them up again.

I wanted to encourage you today in the great things that are in store for your life, so I wrote a prayer that you can pray to receive blessing and empowering:

Creative dreams be awakened! Broken dreams rise up and take flight! God, empower me to pick up my dreams and run with them again!!! Strengthen me!!! Finances be released! Connections be released! Support come! Give me the grace to seize all the opportunity you are sending my way that none of it would fall through the cracks or be wasted or lost. Grant me speediness of hand and work. Be the Center of it all that my efforts would please You and bear much fruit! Grace and empower me to make it all for You and for Your Glory! I receive your grace, your power, your anointing, and your creativity! I choose today to enjoy the creative gifts you gave me and to have fun expressing them!
